Best wishes for the holidays from PV Powered - Thank you for a great year!
Put on your hardhats! PV Powered’ s Bend, Oregon Facility Expansion is Underway
Construction activity has reached a fever pitch at our Bend, Oregon
headquarters as PV Powered’s 110,000 square foot manufacturing plant is being built out to meet the rapidly expanding customer demand for all of our inverters. In our new commercial manufacturing area, we’ll be able to produce in excess of 450MW of commercial inverter products in 2010 with a single shift.

In support of PV Powered’s innovative work in building better systems for commercial and utility-scale PV, including our work as a leader in the US Department of Energy’s SEGIS program, part of the facility expansion includes a solar test field. Studies of a wide variety of modules and DC-DC power optimization solutions will be conducted at the outdoor installation to help us develop the new technologies necessary to increase the penetration of solar into the U.S. power grid.

New England's Patriot Place Project Picks PV Powered Inverters for 525kW Installation
PV Powered commercial solar inverters have been selected for use in a 525kW solar installation at Patriot Place, the 1.3-million-square-foot entertainment, retail and dining destination adjacent to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The PV Powered commercial inverter units at this ½ MW site are being
interfaced with rooftop solar panels on seven different Patriot Place buildings. The system is expected to generate more than 12 million kilowatt hours of electricity over 20 years, preventing the release of more than 8,800 metric tons of carbon into the atmosphere. That is the equivalent of removing more than 1,600 passenger vehicles from the road for a year. The installation is owned and managed by Constellation Energy’s Projects and Services Group of Baltimore, Maryland under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Patriot Place.
The Patriot Place project is the first of several commercial solar installations in which Constellation Energy plans to use PV Powered inverters. For all of these installations PV Powered is integrating performance monitoring at the factory so that Constellation can verify that maximum energy is being delivered and track the return on its investment.

Major Multi-location, Stimulus-funded HUD Project in California Selects PV Powered Inverters
PV Powered residential inverters have been selected for use in a large residential project in Monterey, California. The project is being managed under the auspices of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Housing Authority of the County of Monterey, and will use stimulus funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Ultimately, the project, being constructed in multiple locations in the Monterey area, will include approximately 600 solar-powered multi-family units. The initial phase includes units at four different housing complexes. Emard Electric of Loomis, Calif., has been selected to install the solar electronics. The PV Powered residential inverters will be supplied to Emard Electric by WESCO Distribution, Inc., of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Emard designed the systems to meet the power production targets specified by the California Solar Initiative (CSI). Each will include a custom performance monitoring system using DECK Monitoring technology so that real-time display of power output can be available to HUD officials. Emard is also pioneering virtual metering over the Internet with Pacific Gas and Electric to enable the establishment of feed-in tariff (FIT) arrangements with the electric company. FITs typically offer long-term (15-25 year) contracts for a guaranteed purchase of electricity generated by renewable energy sources.
